This very much depends on your personal profile. We advise you to send your CV and ask for a personal consult before sending the application file.

Can I apply for Hotelschool The Hague while I’m abroad?

If you do not have the possibility to come to one of our selection days in the Netherlands, you are more than welcome to come to one of our selection days abroad. The selection days are listed when you apply.

Can I choose to study in The Hague or Amsterdam?

Our Bachelor Programme is offered at our campus in both The Hague and Amsterdam. You can state your preference when applying, but we cannot guarantee that you will be able to study in the city of your choice. For the location of the International Fast Track Programme, please contact our Admissions Office via admissions@hotelschool.nl.

Do I need a Bachelor diploma in Hospitality- or Hotel Management for the MBA Programme?

No, we also welcome people with non-related Bachelor diploma’s. However you should have an economic oriented educational profile (like international business management, economics).

The Master Programme

Do IFT students also stay at the Skotel, the Training & Study Hotel during the first year?

The International Fast Track programme starts with a 5-week Summer Preparation course that starts every July. During these 5 weeks you live in the Skotel, the Training & Study Hotel of the school.  After the Summer Preparation course you continue with phase 2 and 3 of the regular Bachelor programme, both covering one year. During this period, you arrange housing yourself.

How do I apply for the Bachelor Programme and when?

You can apply online by following the steps: Apply for Bachelor Hotel Management at Hotelschool The Hague. As soon as we have received and processed your application, and you meet all the requirements, you will be invited to one of the selection days. It is possible that the selection days are fully booked near the final application day. Therefore keep in mind to enrol as soon as possible.

How many courses do I have to follow during the Bachelor Programme?

The Bachelor programme is split up in three phases. Phase 1 is all about hospitality performance; you learn to do the existing well’. Phase 2 emphasises the tactical application of this knowledge; you improve on the existing. In the final phase you apply your learning and experience strategically; searching for new combinations. How many courses do I have to follow during the International Fast Track Programme?

The International Fast Track programme starts with a 5-week Summer Preparation course that starts every July. After the Summer Preparation course you continue with phase 2

How many courses do I have to follow during the MBA in International Hospitality Management programme?

The year is divided into 5 blocks, each of 10 weeks. Each block covers several courses which are based on inspirational, professional assignments and are supported by guest lectures, field trips and workshops. You can read more about the courses in the course overview.

Is a GMAT required when applying for the MBA Programme?

A GMAT will be required when there is insufficient information regarding the academic abilities and skills of the candidate or the candidate only has a three year Bachelor Degree.

Is an English test required when applying for the Master Programme?

Yes, except for native speakers and people who have worked or studied for at least two years in a professional English speaking environment. We accept official reports by IELTS, TOEFL or Cambridge.

Is Hotelschool The Hague a private school?

Hotelschool The Hague is not a private school as we are funded by the government. Our small-scale university is one of the reasons we are able to offer such a unique and successful programme.

Is it compulsory to stay at Skotel, the Training & Study Hotel?

Yes, in the first year it is compulsory for all students (except International Fast Track students) to stay at the Skotel. This is part of the Bachelor programme as you really learn to work and live together. This will benefit you in the rest of your career.

Is it nice to study in The Netherlands?

You will feel easily at home in The Netherlands as the Dutch are generally very friendly to internationals. Please take a look at life at HTH to read more about studying in The Netherlands.

Is there a selection procedure for the Master Programme?

Yes. You will be invited to an interview after you have applied via this site and meet the entry requirements. After the initial screening, based on the application form and supporting documentation, a personal interview will be scheduled with the selected candidates prior to the selection board’s final decision. Applications will be processed continuously and interviews are conducted throughout the year. We advise people who require a visa to apply at least 2,5 months before the start of the programme.

What are my career opportunities after graduation?

With a Hotelschool The Hague Bachelor’s degree in Hotel Management you can find yourself in a management position in the international hospitality industry or other industries like events, banking or health care. You can also continue with a Master’s programme, like our Master of Hospitality Management or start your own company.

What are the costs for the Master Programme?

The tuition fee for the MBA Programme is €19.500
This is for the academic year 2017-2018. The fee includes courses, guest lectures, workshops, a study trip abroad and access to all the facilities the Amsterdam Campus of Hotelschool The Hague has to offer. Additional costs are literature (appr. €500,-), visa (if needed) and costs of living. We advise candidates to find accommodation in Amsterdam. Upon acceptance, we are happy to assist you.

What are the costs for the selection procedure?

The costs for the selection procedure are E150,- The aim of Hotelschool The Hague is to make the selection process accessible for all applicants who adhere to the admission requirements. In case applicants are demonstrably financially not able to meet the application fee, Hotelschool The Hague will compensate.

What can I expect of a selection day?

During the selection day you are given the opportunity to demonstrate your motivation and affinity with the world of hospitality and our school. You will have a personal interview and attend a lecture. You will have to apply the content of the lecture in the management group assignment. Written tests to assess English language skills, numerical skills and motivation are also part of the selection day program.

When are the Open Days for the Master Programme?

The MBA Programme organises a few on-site Open Days throughout the year, and the registration forms can be found on our website.  We also organise Online Open Days, so you can discover the Amsterdam Campus from the comfort of your home!  Finally, if you’re unable to join us for an Open Day but still wish to discover the campus, we are more than happy to arrange a personal on-site visit; simply write an email to master@hotelschool.nl!”

When does the MBA in International Hospitality Management programme start?

The MBA Programme begins every year on the first week of September. This can be subject to change and if so, will be announced on our website.

When is the deadline to apply for the Master Programme?

Candidates who require an entry (MVV) visa to study in the Netherlands must apply by June 1st. Other candidates must apply by August 15th. Please note however, that because we process applications continuously, and have a limited number of seats available per cohort, the sooner you apply, the sooner you will receive your deliberation and the more seats will still be available!
