Student Assistant - Servicedesk (Campus Amsterdam)

 

Department

The Servicedesk is the first point of contact for students, parents, staff and external parties. The Servicedesk is responsible for providing 1st line support- and information activities, communicates to back offices, monitors the progress of processes and identifying bottlenecks. The Servicedesk employees are part of the Shared Service Center.

 

Under the guidance of one of the Servicedesk staff members you will support activities which the Servicedesk is responsible for.

 

General Function Description

  • Preparing and printing declarations and enrolment;
  • Logging of calls in Topdesk;
  • Handing out Propaedeutic Certificates;
  • Scanning and emailing forms to student affairs;
  • Sending out template emails;
  • Web room bookings and issues;
  • Smartcards hand out and printing;
  • Preparations for Final Defences.

  

Candidate Profile

You have/are:

  • A student of Hotelschool The Hague and finished with MO phase 2;
  • Good communicative skills;
  • A Professional attitude;
  • Responsible attitude in dealing with confidential matters.

 

Working for 2/3 days a week.

General

You will join a multidisciplinary team of faculty working in a range of hospitality related business areas. Every faculty member works under the direction of one Faculty Department Head, based upon their area of expertise. The Faculty Department Head reports to the Dean of Faculty and together with the Dean, the Faculty Department Heads are responsible for the academic program of the school.

 

Curriculum

The curriculum at Hotelschool The Hague is delivered in a unique competency approach. Courses are integrated using modern methods of practical application and active learning including blended learning, business simulations and case studies, enhancing the students' understanding of each discipline as it is used in real world scenarios.

You are able to teach courses that are closely linked to real-world hospitality management practice. You are a professional and motivating lecturer, encouraging both students and colleagues to achieve excellence. You are an active team player willing to cooperate and contribute to the school’s success. You are both coach and lecturer, with a multidisciplinary approach to business problems. You feel at home in a dynamic and international academic environment. Your teaching and coaching responsibilities will include amongst others:

 

  • Introducing Students to (Hospitality) Technology: Distribution, Guest Facing Technology and Hospitality Software Applications
  • Alignment of Business and Technology
  • Coaching students in their Final year
  • Developing new courses and electives

 

Candidate Profile

  • Preferably a Master’s Degree or relevant qualifications and a willingness to obtain a Master’s Degree
  • minimum 2 years of work experience in Information Management/Technology, preferably in the hospitality or related services industries;
  • preferably teaching experience in Higher Education and or training/coaching young professionals;
  • an excellent oral and written command of English; native level (C2) is required;
  • excellent social skills, an ability to work independently, and a proactive attitude to problem solving;
  • convincing motivation to join Hotelschool The Hague

Remuneration

Hotelschool The Hague offers a salary based on scale 11 with a range between € 3,392.46 and € 4,661.12 depending on your professional experience and qualifications. In addition, Hotelschool The Hague offers:

As of September 2017, we are offering an exciting internship at the Strategic Marketing and Communication Department for a period of at least 5 months. You will get the opportunity to further develop yourself and to participate in an enthusiastic and professional team of young people. A lot of room for independency is offered.

 

Department

The Strategic Marketing & Communication Department loves to build an international brand both on- and offline, creates a strong global community of students, alumni and industry, recruits the best students and tells our story both to our internal and external stakeholders. Digital Marketing contributes to our department’s ambitions and that is why we need you!

 

Tasks will include but not necessarily be limited to:

  • Creating content for Social Media;
  • Monitoring comments and feedback on Social Media;
  • Managing content for the website and blog;
  • Analysing and optimising of our online channels;
  • Creative photography of students, faculty, staff and events;
  • Conducting interviews with students, staff and alumni;
  • Co-development of digital campaigns;
  • Executing the production of brochures, flyers, mailings;
  • Executing research (competition/marketing data);
  • Writing reports on events and school activities;
  • House style check;
  • Quality care (satisfaction surveys/evaluations);
  • Producing (alumni) newsletters;
  • Information requests and all day-to-day tasks.

 

Requirements

You have/are:

  • A 2nd, 3rd or 4th year HBO student of Marketing/Communication/Media/Entertainment or Business related studies;
  • A hands-on mentality and a great eye for detail;
  • Inquisitive, positive and ambitious;
  • A proactive and service-minded attitude;
  • Ability to work well independently, and as part of a team;
  • An excellent command of English, both written and oral;
  • A representative and business-like appearance in conformity with Hotelschool The Hague guidelines;
  • Excellent computer skills such as Excel, Power Point, etc.;
  • Experience with Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Pro CC is an advantage;
  • Affinity with, and interest in the Hospitality industry.

Our focus is on passionate educators who have a combination of significant knowledge of their discipline, experience in the industry, and in teaching.  We seek educators who have passion for both sharing their knowledge, and improving their own abilities, as well as truly caring for students.  Our objective is to help shape the new generation of industry leaders.  To achieve our mission, we seek people with:

  • a minimum of a master’s degree; a PhD is desired.  Preference will be given to the individual with extensive applicable experience, regardless of the degree;
  • considerable (leadership) experience in the international hospitality industry;
  • an affinity for higher education, with previous teaching experience; an enthusiastic approach to education with an emphasis on coaching students to deal with real-world professional assignments;
  • excellent oral and written command of English;

  • the ability to write scholarly articles
