Timetable Officer & Planner (1.0 FTE)

  

Organisation

You will join a team of 2 Timetablers and a Faculty allocation Planner. The school community is international; both staff and students come from all over the world; the programme is taught completely in English. General Responsibilities

Your tasks will be divided between planning & timetabling (50%-50%).

As a Planner you will support the Faculty allocation Planner to make a high quality planning which means you are allocating lecturers to courses based on the information given to you by the Education management. Your task is to create a planning within all criteria given which is most beneficiary to our students (first priority) and faculty. You need to identify issues in the planning and advise the Management on improvement opportunities. You will plan and organise meetings with groups of lecturers and the Education Management concerning the planning. After approval of the Education Management this planning goes to the Timetable Office and there the process for creating a high quality timetable begins.

 

As a Timetabler your main priority is producing and publishing timetables for Students and Faculty for both of our campuses (The Hague and Amsterdam). Based on collected data on employability, availability and occupation of spaces, study programs and amount of student numbers you produce a timetable at different levels. You identify issues and discuss this with the Planner(s) and/ or lecturers.

 

As a Planner and Timetabler you need good communicating skills as you will be in frequent contact with Faculty, Students and other employees (stakeholders). You acknowledge conflicting interests and have the social and communication skills to bring these interests together in agreement. With your analytical skills you see complex problems with many variables as a challenging puzzle.

You are an active team player willing to cooperate and contribute to the school’s success. You feel at home in a dynamic and international academic environment.

 

Candidate Profile

You have:

  • bachelor level (desired);
    • relevant work experience, preferably in education or within a hospitality focused organization;
  • great affinity with higher education;
    • ability to work in a team as well as independently
    • proactive attitude to problem solving;
    • experience with scheduling;
    • experience with dealing with peak load;
    • ability to work flexible due to peak load;
    • preferably knowledge of the scheduling tool Syllabus +/Enterprise;
    • good computer skills, experience with excel;
    • good oral and written command of English;

Remuneration

Depending on your professional experience and qualifications, your salary will be in line with the sector’s collective agreement (CAO-HBO). In addition, Hotelschool The Hague offers an excellent package of fringe benefits.

  • a 13th month;
  • employees with working weeks of 40 hours are entitled to 428 hours (53 days) of leave with retention of salary per calendar year;
  • a retirement pension through ABP;

Lecturer within the Discipline Strategic Marketing Innovation

Supporting students in applying design thinking in a business context and or Revenue management

 

Organisation

You will be part of a multidisciplinary team of about 20 faculty members working in various subject areas. The school community is about 40 percent international. Because of the international character of the institute, the official language is English. Hotelschool The Hague enjoys an excellent reputation, built up over more than 85 years of existence. The faculty enhances this reputation by focusing on its quality lecturing, and, therefore, will be a challenge for you.

 

General function description

You are able to teach and further develop courses that are closely linked to real-life hospitality management practice. You perform teaching responsibilities in a professional manner, encouraging both students and colleagues to achieve excellence, whilst being an active team player willing to cooperate and contribute to the school’s success. You set the example to approaching business problems in a multidisciplinary way, reinforced through roles as expert and coach in a dynamic and international academic environment. The focus of your role will be in Business Model Innovation but your understanding and experience with Revenue Management will allow you to lead classes in this discipline when required.

 

Candidate profile

You as a candidate have:

  • preferably an academic degree, at least at Master’s level;
  • considerable experience in Innovation and Design Thinking, at strategic level, either in the role of intrepreneur, entrepreneur and/or consultant;
  • substantial experience in Revenue Management
  • a minimum of  4 years relevant work experience, in an (international) business environment
  • insight in the hospitality industry and knowledge of current developments in (hospitality) management;
  • a great affinity with higher education
  • an apparent enthusiasm and skill for education that puts an emphasis on coaching students to deal with real-life professional assignments
  • excellent teaching and coaching skills
  • excellent oral and written command of English
  • excellent social skills, an ability to work independently and a proactive attitude to problem solving.

 

Remuneration

Hotelschool The Hague offers a salary in the range of € 50,000 and € 60,000 gross per year, depending on your professional experience and qualifications. In addition, Hotelschool The Hague offers an excellent package of fringe benefits, such as 53 days of leave with retention of salary per calendar year, a retirement pension through ABP, excellent opportunities for further education, the possibility to participate in collective (health) insurance and generous opportunities for sabbatical.

 

Additional information

You are willing to work at both locations of the school, in The Hague as well as in Amsterdam.

Starting date is as soon as possible and it is expected that the focus of your allocated time will be with the discipline Business Model Innovation (0,6) versus Revenue Management (0,4).

Profile
You have/are:

  • A Master degree with a major in Finance or Accounting or equivalent;
  • Several years international working experience in the Hospitality sector in Finance, Accounting or hotel real estate & investments is preferred;
  • Teaching experience or proven affinity with teaching;
  • Analytical and conceptual skills and an excellent command of the English language;

Hotelschool The Hague offers a salary in scale 11 with a range of € 45,000 and € 60,000 gross per year, depending on your professional experience and qualifications. The contract is annual with an option for extension.
