Educational Specialist

(1.0 fte)


Department

The Educational Specialist is employed within the Dean’s Office, part of the cluster of the Dean. The Educational Specialist is responsible for providing support and assistance for the development and the evaluation of the Bachelor and Master programmes.

 

The duties of the Educational Specialist consist of:

 

Evaluations

  • Manages the (course) evaluation process as part of quality management and implements the process;
  • supervises student assistants in their work of gathering (course) evaluations;
  • processes quantitative and qualitative data from various internal and external sources e.g. NSE;
  • reports the results of the evaluations and submits them to the faculty department heads for further processing.

 

Supporting Educational Development

  • Gathers information and best practises regarding new developments in education;
  • advises teachers how to incorporate new developments and didactical approaches in the lessons such as blended learning and flipping the classroom;
  • develops didactical applications in line with the education policy;
  • develops new training materials for teacher development and conducts the training;
  • participates in projects relevant to curriculum development.

 

Candidate profile

The Educational Specialist has/is:

  • a university (master’s) degree; preferably MSc in Education or Information Management;
  • minimum 3 years working experience in a similar role;
  • good advisory and analytical skills;
  • experience in developing new didactic materials;
  • understanding of educational, organisational, social coherence in relation to the education policy;
  • experience with electronic data collecting tools;
  • experience with business intelligence tools such as Microsoft BI or Cognos is a preference;
  • knowledge of SPSS;
  • aware of recent developments in international (higher) education;
  • a strong affinity with the hospitality industry and has an international focus;
  • an excellent command of Dutch and English (oral and written).

 

Remuneration

Depending on your professional experience and qualifications, your salary will be in line with the sector’s collective agreement (CAO-HBO).

In addition, Hotelschool The Hague offers an excellent package of fringe benefits.

  • A 13th month;
  • employees with working weeks of 40 hours are entitled to 428 hours (53 days) of leave with retention of salary per calendar year;
  • a retirement pension through ABP;
  • opportunities for further education;
  • the possibility to participate in collective (health) insurance.

Senior educational expert with a focus on ICT


Department

The Educational Advisor is employed within the Dean’s Office, part of the cluster of the Dean. The Educational Advisor is responsible for the development and evaluation of education and examining with a focus on the approach of technology.

 

The duties of the Educational Advisor consist of:

 

  • Innovating
    The Educational Advisor shares responsibility for the continued development and improvement of Hotelschool The Hague’s innovative and inspiring educational vision, policy and practice for both the bachelor and master programmes. He or she analyses trends and developments in the design, development, delivery, assessment and evaluation of (international) higher education.

 

  • Advising
    The Educational Advisor is a pro-active discussion partner and consultant for faculty, the Management Team and the Board of Directors and draws up and implements advisory proposals and project plans. He or she educates and advises faculty about educational performance, educational developments and professional development.

 

  • Monitoring
    The Educational Advisor monitors the quality and consistency of the implementation of the Hotelschool’s didactic concept and curriculum, including connection to professional practice and monitors evaluation results.

 

  • Consulting
    The Educational Advisor participates in internal and external consultations focused on educational development and quality and represents the Hotelschool in formal and informal contacts with key external stakeholders such as the HBO Council, the Ministry of Education and other educational institutions.

 

Candidate profile

The Educational Advisor has/is:

  • a university (master’s) degree; preferably MSc in Education;
  • 8 years working experience at the intersection of Education and technology of which 5 years is work experience within higher education;
  • demonstrable experience in the field of teaching, educational development, advising, policy development, accreditation and project-based work methods;
  • excellent advisory, analytical and presentation skills, is persuasive and possesses excellent communication skills (oral and written);
  • the following competencies: organizational awareness, skilled in the coaching and development of employees in the field of didactics;
  • aware of recent developments in international (higher) education;
  • proven experience with implementing blended learning and/or flipping the class room projects;
  • knowledge and experience with professional development of teachers;
  • a strong affinity with the hospitality industry and has an international focus;
  • an excellent command of Dutch and English.

Curriculum

The curriculum at Hotelschool The Hague is delivered in a unique competency approach. Courses are integrated using modern methods of practical application and active learning including blended learning, business simulations and case studies, enhancing the students' understanding of each discipline as it is used in real world scenarios.

Candidate Profile

  • a Master Degree in Linguistics, English Language or similar;
  • minimum 3 years of teaching experience;
  • preferably teaching experience in Higher Education, ideally in a university of Applied Sciences;
  • hospitality experience or a proven affinity with a hospitality focused organisation is desired;
  • a teaching qualification such as DELTA or PGCE in Higher Education is desired;
  • an excellent oral and written command of English; native level (C2) is required;
  • excellent social skills, an ability to work independently, and a proactive attitude to problem solving;

Remuneration

Hotelschool The Hague offers a salary based on scale 10 with a range of € 2,600 - € 3,900, depending on your professional experience and qualifications. In addition, Hotelschool The Hague offers:

Our focus is on passionate educators who have a combination of significant knowledge of their discipline, experience in the industry, and in teaching.  We seek educators who have passion for both sharing their knowledge, and improving their own abilities, as well as truly caring for students.  Our objective is to help shape the new generation of industry leaders.  To achieve our mission, we seek people with:

  • a minimum of a master’s degree; a PhD is desired.  Preference will be given to the individual with extensive applicable experience, regardless of the degree;
  • considerable (leadership) experience in the international hospitality industry;
  • an affinity for higher education, with previous teaching experience; an enthusiastic approach to education with an emphasis on coaching students to deal with real-world professional assignments;
  • excellent oral and written command of English;
  • excellent social skills, an ability to work independently, and a proactive attitude to problem solving;
  • insights into and knowledge of current affairs and developments in (hospitality) management;
  • excellent teaching and coaching skills;
  • the ability to write scholarly articles
  • for all positions international work experience is required.
