Human Resources Department
The Human Resources (HR) department supports the Board of Directors and Management with the development and execution of HR-policy.

 

Task description:
Contributing to the Hotelschool mission

  • You become one with the Hotelschool’s core values;
  • you embed these values in HR-policy and our approach to the people we work with;
  • you ensure consistent and effective use of both the language and tools of the HR instruments, in such a way that the core values become a part of the spirit and essence of the Hotelschool

 

Managing the HR department
You:

  • ensure that the HR-department effectively supports the organisation;
  • liaise with external partners (UWV, Occupational health, Loyalis, Centraal Beheer, Zilveren Kruis) and funding support organisations;
  • advise and implement procedures regarding work related legal affairs;
  • ensure provision of HR-related management information and the production of a range of management reports;
  • manage and work on the implementation of a range of HR-themes and projects, including the University of Applied Sciences professionalization plan, sustainable employability, assessment and rewards, international recruitment, and employee development.

 

Executing operational strategy
You:

  • translate strategy into HR-policy, budget and the operational plan;
  • develop detailed plans to ensure complete staffing, up-to-date and complete job descriptions, and to successfully recruit, appoint and introduce new employees;
  • give substance to the Performance management cycle and the Talent management cycle;
  • ensure that management are professional and inspirational;
  • take timely action to ensure availability of the appropriate skills and capacity necessary for executing the core business of teaching and research;
  • contribute to good employer-employee relations based on a good relationship with representative bodies etc.

 

Supporting innovation and change
You:

  • lead and stimulate HR-line management tasks, and monitor and contribute to the optimisation of all HR processes;
  • you gather the relevant data from internal and external stakeholders with regards to the expected impact of change on (i) profiles, (ii) staff formation etc.;
  • you gather and interpret the data in order to advise the Board and management and/or implement it in HR-policy and HR-procedures;
  • contribute to implementing change using the appropriate HR instruments and your expertise;
  • monitor change using relevant indicators.

 

This position requires / you are:

  • demonstrable experience and success in HR and hospitality leadership
  • a university degree in an HR related subject;
  • experience in and an affinity with higher education;
  • excellent advisory and social skills;
  • excellent communication, reporting and presentation skills;
  • excellent knowledge of Dutch and English (C1), both written and spoken;
  • experience in an international setting is an advantage;
  • energetic, honest, can convince, are service minded, and sensitive to the organisation’s needs;
  • determined, hands-on and flexible.

 

Position in the organisation
You lead a small HR team (in total 4 FTE's) consisting of two HR advisors, an HR and payroll officer and an HR assistant. You report directly to the Chair of the Board of Directors and form part of the Hotelschool Management Team.

 

More information
The appointment is initially for a period of one year with a view to a permanent position. You will be located at the Hotelschool The Hague campus (Head office) but will also work at the Amsterdam campus. Hotelschool The Hague offers excellent terms of employment: depending on your education and experience, your salary is scaled at level 12 (min. € 3,937.55) or level 13 (max. € 5,493.45) of the HBO CAO. (Higher Education Professional Universities, collective employment agreement). An assessment and an English language test are part of the selection procedure.

Criteria talent pool

Strategic Marketing & Communication Department
The Strategic Marketing & Communication Department is responsible for marketing and positioning, branding, internal and external communication, including public relations and marketing events for Hotelschool The Hague.

As July/August 2015, we can offer you an internship at the Strategic Marketing and Communication Department for a period of at least 5 months. 

The trainee will be assigned independent tasks and will be supervised by one of the Strategic Marketing & Communication staff members. The trainee will get the opportunity to further develop him-/herself and to participate in an enthusiastic and professional team of young people. A lot of room for independency is offered.

 

Tasks will include but not necessarily be limited to:

  • Co-develop mailings, press releases and dealing with requests for information;
  • Design the digital student & staff news;
  • Making scripts for international fairs and visits of external guest (e.g. ministers, General Managers of international hotel chains);
  • House style check;
  • Quality care (satisfaction surveys/evaluations);
  • Help organizing (large-scale) events; both internal and public events;
  • Help executing research (competition/marketing data);
  • Updating the website;
  • Executing the production of brochures and flyers;
  • All daily tasks.

 

Requirements:
You have/are

  • A 2nd of 3rd year HBO student of Marketing/Communication or Business related studies;
  • A hands-on mentality and a great eye for detail;
  • Inquisitive, independent, positive and ambitious;
  • A proactive, initiative and service-minded attitude;
  • An excellent command of Dutch and English, both written and oral;
  • A representative and business-like appearance in conformity with Hotelschool The Hague guidelines;
  • Excellent computer skills such as Excel, Power Point, etc.;

  • Executing research (competition/marketing data);
  • Conducting interviews with students, staff and alumni;
  • Writing reports on events and school activities;
  • House style check;
  • Quality care (satisfaction surveys/evaluations);
  • Organizing (large-scale) events; both internal and public events.

  • Producing (alumni) newsletters;
