Position in the organization
The Faculty is organized by the academic disciplines of:

 

  • Professional Development
  • Managing Operations
  • Managing Finance & Revenue Management
  • Managing Marketing
  • Managing Human Resources
  • Enterprise Leadership

 

Every faculty member works under the direction of one Faculty Department Head, based upon their area of expertise. The Faculty Department Head reports to the Dean of Faculty and together with the Dean, the Faculty Department Heads along with the Program director are responsible for the academic program of the school. He/she is responsible for affairs regarding the (members of his/her) Faculty group, which consists of approximately 20 people.

 

The Faculty Department Head leads the content of his/her discipline as well as of all educators within their discipline, including coaching and professional development plans. The Faculty Department Head will be supported by the Dean of Faculty, the Human Resource department and the Finance & Control department.

 

 

Curriculum
The curriculum at Hotelschool The Hague is delivered in a unique competency approach. Courses are integrated using modern methods of practical application and active learning including blended learning, business simulations and case studies, enhancing the students' understanding of each discipline as it is used in real world scenarios. 

 

Responsibilities as faculty head
The Faculty Department Head has an outstanding academic record. He/she has strong commitment to advancement and innovation of the knowledge area, the curriculum and to the advancement of team members.

 

You will be:

  • leading a faculty team of individual lecturers in a specific knowledge area;
  • responsible for allocating of faculty team resources and education expenses; 
  • motivated by, and skilled in, the development of a self directing team;
  • organized and efficient in the use of your own time and others;
  • generating active relationships, building strong functional partnering across a range of internal and external professionals, including faculty, students, industry representatives, and senior leadership;
  • responsible for the quality of learning and dependable delivery of the education and innovation of educational topics and didactics within the knowledge area;
  • performance committed, with a clear focus on the measurable delivery of the learning promised in the areas of Professional development, contemporary Management skills, and Enterprise Leadership;
  • bringing strategic teamwork in updating and renewing curriculum and learning methods; 
  • leading by doing by participating in the delivery of classroom learning topics and techniques.

Profile
As lecturer you have or are:

  • a PhD in a hospitality related discipline or a Master degree with a major in Marketing and several years of international hospitality related working experience;
  • Considerable experience in Marketing, preferably in the area of: Innovation, Electronic distribution and/or Social Media;
  • several years of teaching experience or proven affinity with teaching;
  • analytical and conceptual skills and an excellent command of the English language;

Remuneration
Hotelschool The Hague offers a salary in the range of € 67,000 and € 75,000 gross per year, depending on your professional experience and qualifications. The contract is annual; however, a permanent contract (similar to tenure) can be received within the first three years, and is not focused on publications, rather the total contribution of the individual.   In addition, Hotelschool The Hague offers an excellent package of fringe benefits, a retirement pension through ABP, excellent opportunities for further education, the possibility to participate in collective (health) insurance, generous opportunities for sabbatical and, when appropriate, we provide professional expat services.

Criteria talent pool

  • a minimum of a master’s degree; a PhD is desired.  Preference will be given to the individual with extensive applicable experience, regardless of the degree;

You will be:

  • responsible for daily operations of the campus;
  • responsible for Level of service in all outlets on campus;
  • responsible for level of education as developed by the Dean;
  • liaison between departments of F&B and Rooms;
  • is able to run a shift in both F&B as well as Rooms;
  • responsible for execution of internal and external events and builds and maintains relationships with event organizers;
  • builds relationship with event clients;
  • students and staff: First point of contact in absence of Dean of campus/students;
  • ensures implementation as well as execution of service values together with Dean;
  • TH and AM: report into Dean of campus/students;
  • TH and AM: Instructors Rooms Division report to Resident manager;
  • close collaboration with Skotel manager as well as F&B manager;
  • provides input into appraisals for F&B instructors;
  • builds and maintains contacts with local community and industry partners;
