International Fast Track

Do you already have a previous qualification in hospitality-related studies, and are you ready to take your career to the next level? Are you ambitious, do you breathe hospitality and do you want to achieve a Bachelor degree in Hotel Management? You may qualify for our International Fast Track programme! This is an accelerated version of the Hotel Management Bachelor’s programme enabling you to build on your experience and management skills in roughly two years.
This two-year programme starts with a six weeks Summer Preparation Course, which enables you to follow the regular Bachelor programme in its second phase. After completing Phase 2 and Phase 3 you will graduate with the internationally recognised ‘Bachelor Degree Business Administration in Hotel Management’ (BBA.HM).

Your Hospitality Career
The two-year International Fast Track programme (IFT) results in the internationally recognised ‘Bachelor Degree Business Administration in Hotel Management’ (BBA.HM).
A Hotelschool The Hague Bachelor’s degree in Hotel Management opens doors to the World of Hospitality. You find jobs at the level you have studied for: management level in leading international hotel chains. However, not everyone chooses to work in hotels; hospitality as you will learn here, goes much further. You can for example set up your own company, work for major multinationals, banks, in healthcare or event companies.
Your degree is respected by a broad and varied group of employers. They know that Hotelschool The Hague graduates combine management skills with experience and a flair and passion for hospitality that will help them improve their business.

Your worldwide network
Wherever you are in the world, you’ll find Hotelschool The Hague alumni working in leading positions for international hospitality focused organisations. The hotel school was founded in 1929, and has been developing its network ever since. The alumni network is proactive, welcoming and it will become your network; you are part of it from the moment you join the school.
Did you finish Horeca Ondernemer/Manager, or do you have another hospitality related diploma? You are more than welcome to apply for the International Fast Track programme if you have a final grade of 7 or higher for Business Plan/ Basic Management /Operational Management.
If you are a foreign applicant, you need to have a secondary school diploma, allowing you to go to university (or German Fachhochschule) in your own country, plus a diploma of a course in hospitality of at least two years full-time.
All applicants (Dutch and foreign) need to be have a good command of English, a sufficient TOEFL, IELTS or Cambridge score is required:
- TOEFL test - Minimum score 80 Internet-based and 550 paper-based
- IELTS test - Minimum score 6.0
- Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency - Any pass grade
- Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English - Grade A, B, or C
- Cambridge First Certificate - Grade A
After being selected for the International Fast Track programme, you start with the Summer Preparation Course. After passing this course you continue with the Bachelor Degree programme.
If you do not meet the requirements you can always apply for the regular four-year Bachelor programme.
Summer Preparation course
The International Fast Track programme starts with a 5-week Summer Preparation course that starts every July. During these 5 weeks you live in the Skotel, the Training & Study Hotel of the school. After the Summer Preparation course you continue with phase 2 and 3 of the regular Bachelor of Hotel Management programme, both covering one year.
Phase 2 - Tactical Hospitality Management: "Improving the existing"
In this stage you show us how to take initiative. The programme concentrates on the various management domains: Marketing Management, Financial Management, Operations Management and Information Management. In this stage you will be faced with challenges, such as how to achieve higher quality, how to work more efficiently, how to achieve greater guest satisfaction. These challenges require you to use all your management knowledge and the theoretical models that you have learned.
Phase 3 - Strategic Hospitality Management: "Searching for new combinations"
In the third stage of the programme you focus on innovation, strategy and creativity. As a manager in the hospitality industry you need to find solutions to anticipated challenges, to take advantage of possible opportunities and to implement any changes required. This stage also includes a management placement of approximately 20 weeks at a renowned international company within the hospitality industry. This management placement forms an essential ingredient of the Launching Your Career (LYCAR) programme, where your work towards your international career in hospitality.
Our school is internationally renowned for its innovative learning concept: Entrepreneurial Learning. What does this mean? It means you are responsible for your own learning process. You learn to take initiative, to be proactive and think for yourself. You ‘learn by doing’. Lecturers act as coaches, not teachers; you follow courses based on professional tasks and real life assignments.
Entrepreneurial learning teaches you project management, self-discipline, self-reflection and group working. These are life-skills; you take them with you and apply them wherever and whatever you do after graduation.
At the end of the day, you represent our quality. When you graduate, you take Hotelschool The Hague with you to wherever you work, whatever you do. So we work hard to ensure that you join a school where the quality of the educational programme and school facilities is excellent. The Bachelor Hospitality Management of the hotel school has been accredited as ‘excellent’ in 11 of 16 categories by the NVAO, the Higher Education Accreditation Organisation of the Netherlands and Flanders.

Practical and management experience
You need real practical experience to succeed; you have to learn how the hospitality industry really works. That’s why you complete a management and leadership course to further develop your management skills in the day-to-day hospitality operation of our own facilities such as rooms division, banqueting or Le Début kitchen.
In your final phase course, called Launching Your Career you start to plan your future. Do you want to become a manager at a hotel, start your own business or follow a master’s programme? Under the inspiring guidance of several coaches you write your Career Launching Plan. By combining research and internships in the international world of hospitality you figure out the career path you want to follow. Hotelschool The Hague has built an extensive network since 1929 which you can use to jumpstart your career. Many students are asked to stay on after graduation and start their careers at the company they chose for their internship.
Open days & Fairs
If you would like to get to know Hotelschool The Hague better before applying, come and visit one of our open days. You can visit one of the regular open days which are held at both campuses on Wednesday afternoons. We also have special IFT open days on Thursdays. You’ll learn more about what we can do for you and enjoy a guided tour of the school and our facilities. Check the map for all dates and possibilities.
If you do not have the possibility to visit one of the open days in the Netherlands it is also possible to meet us abroad. We have a stand at several education fairs abroad throughout the year. Our representatives and students of Hotelschool The Hague will be travelling to different countries and are delighted to meet you at one of these fairs to inform you on our study programme and to answer all your questions. Hotelschool The Hague also organises selection days abroad.

As Hotelschool The Hague is a state funded school, the costs for the Bachelor programme are significantly lower than other known private hotel schools.
Hotelschool The Hague is part of a programme called ‘Ruim baan voor talent’ (Make way for talent), started by the Ministry of Education, Culture & Science. A number of HBO schools, including Hotelschool The Hague, are allowed to charge higher tuition fees on the grounds of demonstrable added value for students. Hotelschool The Hague demonstrates its added value through the following points:
- Demonstrable international character;
- Demonstrable strong(er) personal growth;
- Demonstrable ability to deal with complex problems;
- Demonstrable favourable position in the labour market.

When you want to be part of Hotelschool The Hague’s vibrant student community you are more than welcome to apply to start the programme in July.
If you would like to start in July 2014, you can apply until 1 March 2014 (non-EEA students) or 1 May 2014 (EEA students).
Simply enrol by clicking ‘apply’. It is possible that the selection days are fully booked near the final application day. Therefore keep in mind to enrol as soon as possible. As soon as we have received and processed your application, and you meet all the requirements, you will be invited to one of the selection days.

The small-scale of our international hotel management school is one of the reasons we are able to offer such a unique and successful programme. That is why you will be invited to a selection day after you have applied via this site and meet the entry requirements. During this selection day you are given the opportunity to demonstrate your motivation and affinity with the world of hospitality.

Hotelschool The Hague is not a private school as we are funded by the government. Our small-scale university is one of the reasons we are able to offer such a unique and successful programme.
