Finalists Best City Centre 2015-2017 announced

The finalists who will compete for the title "Best City Centre 2015-2017" in the Netherlands are known. An independent national jury selected the cities Dordrecht and Rotterdam in the category Large City Centre and Gouda and Roermond were selected in the category Medium-sized City Centre.

In the past month nominated cities had the opportunity to motivate why they deserve the title 'Best City Centre 2015-2017'. Besides Dordrecht and Rotterdam in the category Large City Centre the following cities were nominated: Leeuwarden, Nijmegen and Utrecht. In the category Medium-sized City Centre next to Gouda and Roermond also Almere, Helmond and Middelburg were nominated.

The independent national jury consisting of experts in various urban themes assessed the inner cities of the nominees on their development in the past two years. Karoline Wiegerink, Lector City Hospitality at Hotelschool The Hague is one of the experts in the jury.

Announcement of winners
On Thursday 8 and Friday 9 October 2015, the jury will visit the finalists. These cities have a few hours to show the city centre to the jury and convince them. Winners will be announced on 18 November during a ceremony in The Hague.
