With the establishment of the Industry Relation Office, Hotelschool The Hague chooses to actively encourage students, faculty and employees to adopt an outward focus and to further improve the fit between school and industry, research, theory & practice as well as align her curricula with the changing needs of the industry.

The Industry Exchange is an initiative, coordinated by the Industry Office of Hotelschool The Hague – The Industry Exchange is aimed at encouraging the exchange of knowledge between Hotelschool alumni, Industry and faculty in an interactive fashion.
 
Activities 2013/2014

  1. “Passion for Hospitality” – Career Market
    Mr. Milan Arandelovic, Area General Manager Benelux, Hilton Worldwide – Mr Guy Luchting, Student Hotelschool The Hague – Mr. Suresh Menon, Executive Vice President Global Human Resources, Kerzner International and Dr Lily Lin, Author: “Interviewing Successful Hotel Managers” gave their thoughts on the subject on “Passion for Hospitality”. In different break out rooms, industry was invited to offer our phase 3 students to orientate themselves on their future. Phase 3 students were giving the opportunity to interact with industry representatives in a relaxed fashion and learnt about current trends and developments.
     
  2. “Trends and Development in Hospitality” – Reunion
    The plenary session presented by Ms Corien Pompe, Design Manager Identity & Innovation, Volvo Cars and Ms Ingrid Eras -Magdalena, Vice President People Development & Staffing EAME Starwood Hotels & Resorts on the topic “Trends and Development in Hospitality” were inspiring and “game changing”. In different break out rooms, our alumni chaired “Topic Table” on various management areas. All “Topic Tables” are focused on Trends and Development in Hospitality. 
                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                A special thanks to our “Topic Table” chairpersons; Lill Kleven, Global Marketing Director Hospitality & Commercial Laundry at Sealed Air – Annette van de Meene, General Manager Consultancy & Training at Hotelschool The Hague – Maik Peters, Product Manager at SmartHOTEL – Rogier Braakman, CEO at Sandton Hotels – Yaela Betsalel, Managing Director at Typhoon Hospitality –Rene van Schie, Hotelloods; Hotel Development Intermediary for the Municipality of Amsterdam – Economic Affairs and Jasmijn Sabbagh, Teamleader Contact Centre at Richemont. The end of the afternoon marked the beginning of the Reunion, effortlessly we move to the reunion. The F&B team took care of delicious bites and delicatesses. Within no time we had the party going; Alumni found their other half and got treated Lingot Martin.

  3. “Everything you always wanted to know about the Hotel Industry, but were afraid to ask” - Career fair, Companies presentations & Interviews
    The event started with an interactive networking lunch at the Career Fair. Where after various activities (presentations, speed dating) were scheduled for the students to get to know about their “future employers”.

  4. “Raak” Project on Revenue Management – “Exploring Revenue Management”
    A joint effort with the Research Centre, Dr Jean Pierre van de Rest, the morning program was designed for Independent Hotels in the Netherlands on the virtues of revenue management for small hotels. Dutch language program organized for the Dutch Government funded RAAK project on Revenue Management. Speakers included Kirsten Lang, KL Consulting – Bart Reints Bok, Charme Hotels -  Maryna Jooste, Lecturer in Finance HTH and Hannah Backhaus, graduate HTH – Dirk Sierag, PHD student CWI, VU & HTH and Jean Pierre van de Rest, Director Research Centre HTH. 

    After a networking lunch we gather for the second part of the program “Exploring Revenue Management” with the following speakers:
    - “What is the role of third parties in revenue management?” - Rogier Telder, Area Manager The Netherlands, Booking.com
    - “Strategic revenue management: The role of competitive price level and price stability ” - Linda Canina, Professor - Cornell University, USA
    - “How does an airline apply Revenue Management? - Roy Scheerder, Commercial Director - Transavia.com
