Department

The Human Resources department supports and advises the Board of Directors, the management teams and the employees on HR related subjects. The team consists of five professionals: an HR Coordinator, two HR Advisors, a Payroll Administrator and the HR Manager. The HR department is an active contributor to organisational renewal and contributes actively to improving employee commitment and satisfaction. The objective of the HR department is to help the organisation anticipate and adapt to future issues and deliver efficient and effective HR processes.

 

General function description

The HR Manager reports directly to the Board of Directors. The HR Manager is responsible for developing and implementing the HR strategy in close cooperation with members of the department and other stakeholders. The HR Manager gives advice within the organisation and to the Board of Directors, initiates, writes and executes the plans approved by the Board of Directors, reports on progress and is hands-on.

 

The HR Manager

  • Leads the HR department by creating an environment where people grow, building a strong and proactive HR team;
  • Is responsible for the development and implementation of an HR strategy that is in line with the institutional plan and the translation of the HR strategy into HR-policy/tactics, budget and the operational plan, co-created with the HR team and other stakeholders (both external as well as internal parties);
  • Collaborates intensively with other departments within The Hotelschool such as Faculty, Timetable Office, Finance, Marketing etc.;
  • Manages and works on the implementation of a range of HR-themes and projects, including the professionalization plan, sustainable employability, assessment and rewards, (international recruitment), and employee development;
  • Initiates implementing change using appropriate HR instruments;
  • Helps the organisation to build a culture of trust and of versatility;
  • Contributes to good employer-employee relations.


Candidate profile
Desired background of the candidate:

  • A passion for HR, education and preferably the hospitality industry;
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in managing an HR department;
  • A master degree, preferably in HR;
  • Aligned with the vision, mission, values and strategy of Hotelschool The Hague;
  • Able to build constructive working relationships with all levels in the organisation & the ability to set priorities and the power to execute;
  • Knowledge about relevant law/collective labour agreements and Dutch Higher Education system;
  • Excellent communication, reporting and presentation skills and command of Dutch and English, spoken and written;
  • Experience with change management & strategic personnel planning and a proven track record in building a strategic HR department;
  • Experience with the development of modern HR instruments.

Conditions of employment
Depending on your professional experience and qualifications, your salary will be scaled in scale 12, in line with the sector’s collective agreement (CAO-HBO). In addition, Hotelschool The Hague offers an excellent package of fringe benefits.

  • A 13th month;
  • Employees with working weeks of 40 hours are entitled to 428 hours (53 days) of leave with retention of salary per calendar year;
  • A retirement pension through ABP;
  • Opportunities for further education;
  • The possibility to participate in collective (health) insurance.

Strategic Marketing & Communication Intern

 

An enthusiastic and energetic individual with a hands-on mentality and a passion for (digital) marketing, communication, branding and PR.

 

As of February 2018, Hotelschool The Hague offers an internship at the Strategic Marketing and Communication Department preferably for a period of longer than 3 months. Are you interested in learning more about digital marketing, Social Media, branding, internal communication and market research? Then this is the place for you!

 

You will be assigned independent tasks and will get the opportunity to further develop yourself and to participate as an integral part of a young, enthusiastic and professional team. A lot of room for independence is offered and we will provide you supervision by one of the Strategic Marketing & Communication experts.

 

Our Department

Our team as part of the Strategic Marketing & Communication Department is responsible for marketing and positioning, branding, internal and external communication, including public relations and marketing events for Hotelschool The Hague.

 

Responsibilities may include:

  • Creating content and monitoring internal and external communication (website, social media, intranet, narrowcasting and PR);
  • Executing the production of marketing & communication materials
  • Executing research (competition/marketing data), including conducting interviews with students, staff and alumni;
    • Photography of students, faculty, staff and events;
    • Quality care & proofing brand house style;
    • Producing mailings, newsletters, press releases and dealing with requests for information;
    • Supporting events and recruitment activities.

 

Requirements

You have/are:

  • A 2nd year or above WO/HBO student of Marketing/Communication or Business related studies;
  • A hands-on mentality and a great eye for detail;
  • Inquisitive, independent, positive and ambitious;
  • A proactive and service-oriented attitude;
  • An excellent command of both Dutch and English, both written and oral;
  • A representative and business-like appearance in conformity with Hotelschool The Hague guidelines;
  • Excellent computer skills such as Excel, Power Point, etc.;
  • Preference will be given to the individual that has experience with creative programmes such as: InDesign, Photoshop or Illustrator.
  • Affinity with, and/or interest in the Hospitality industry.
