Hotelschool The Hague has been ‘At the heart of hospitality’ since 1929. Founded by industry, for industry, the former small vocational Dutch school has developed into an international Hospitality Business School with students of 68 nationalities (1 October 2017), based over two campuses in The Hague and Amsterdam.

In 2018, our purpose was redefined as ‘Creating Hospitable Futures Together', where futures refer to those of our students, employees, industry, alumni and society. Hotelschool The Hague wants to secure its graduates’ futures, making sure they are equipped to shape and improve the futures of both industry and society.

Our Industry

The industry we serve is a dynamic industry, with growth numbers dominated by change. The Travel and Tourism Industry is currently the world's largest industry. Our challenge is to best prepare our graduates for a successful future in the industry. Our target markets are:

  • Primary: Hospitality Industry, such as: Lodging, Food & Beverage Establishments, Entertainment & Recreation and Assembly & Event Management;
  • Secondary: Suppliers to the Primary Hospitality industry, such as: Reservation & Distribution providers, Food & Beverage suppliers, Technology, Investment companies and Consultants;
  • Tertiary: Industries where hospitality makes a difference, such as: Care & Health, Retail, Transport and Financial Services.

Hotelschool The Hague has opted to actively encourage students and employees to adopt an outward focus with the establishment of the Industry & Alumni Relations Office, as well as to further improve the connection between school and industry, research, theory & practice, as well as to align its curricula with the industry’s changing needs.

Partnerships & Events

Partnership with Hotelschools of Distinction
Furthermore, Hotelschool The Hague is a founding partner of Hotel Schools of Distinction (HSD, 2014); the global alliance of premier hotel schools in partnership with hospitality industry leaders, all passionately driven to create high-quality talent by sharing knowledge and research.

Industry Exchange
Hotelschool The Hague introduced a network event called the Industry Exchange in 2013, in order to intensify the relationship with the industry. The purpose of an Industry Exchange is to bring faculty, students and industry relations together, to talk about trends and developments in the international hospitality industry. The activities range from inspiring keynotes to a career market. The Industry Exchange Career Fair is the perfect place for students looking for an internship and it is also an excellent opportunity for companies to recruit hospitality talents.

Genio Worldwide Innovation Summit
Hotelschool The Hague has organised the Genio Worldwide Innovation Summit on an annual basis for the last five years. Every year, students from international hotel schools are invited to work on a case and present their findings to a group of international CEOs during this event.

Global Citizenship Series
The Global Citizenship Series is a series of seminars, where students and employees can join to explore the concept of Global Citizenship.
Led by eminent guest speakers, participants will connect on a variety of major topics which influence our society.

Industry Advisory Board

In 2017, we have developed an International Advisory Board (IAB) for Hotelschool The Hague. Members of this board have an advisory role on Hotelschool The Hague’s vision and strategy. They were selected based on a number of criteria, including: industry, position and experience. They are currently focusing on two points:

  • Where will Hotelschool The Hague be in ten years’ time?
  • The future Hotelschool The Hague graduate profile.

We will host an Advisory Board “Next Generation” in June 2018, with young industry experts selected by members of the International Advisory Board, who will provide input for both of these questions from a younger perspective.
